  • Boring insect control: trunk insecticide applications on oak and pine trees

Diseases

  • Sudden oak death fall treatment applications (Oct.-Dec)
  • Sycamore anthracnose fall treatment
  • Pitch canker fungicide application (Pine trees)
  • Shot hole fungus control of fruit trees
  • Peach leaf curl (1st. application)

Other

  • Root zone fertilizer application
  • Mulch all trees and shrubs
  • Adjust irrigation system
  • Plant new trees and shrubs

Storm preparation

  • Pre-Winter safety assessment
  • Prune dead and diseased branches before winter storms
  • Thin branches to allow air movement through dense canopies; this procedure is best performed in summer through early fall for coast live oak trees.
  • Cable trees with branch defects

Winter  (Dec.-Feb.)

  • Fruit tree dormant oil spray for aphid, scale and mite control
  • Dormant oil spray other landscape trees

  • Inspect tree canopies for branch defects
  • Make sure irrigation system has bee drained and is turned off
